Mr. Benson Lee Bonds, Jr.

Plum Branch, SC — Mr. Benson Lee Bonds Jr., 50, of Deerfield Road of Plum Branch, died Monday, July 27, 2020, at Self Regional Health Care.

Visitation will be held at Strom Funeral Home of McCormick on Tuesday, July 28th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Bonds was a native of McCormick, South Carolina. He was born to the late Mary Ann Self of McCormick and Benson Lee Bonds Sr. of Belton.

The pastime he most enjoyed was working on his truck or helping people install radios in their vehicles. He was a treasured employee of Gurleys then to Food Lion for many years.

Survivors include his sister, Michelle Bonds; her son, Daniel I Coffee (Angela); his Aunt of the Home, Brenda Morgan (Curt); three nieces, Annabell, Sofia, and Miss Paysley; with lots of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

The family is at the home on Deerfield Road in Plum Branch.

Mr. Warren Alvin Mobley

McCormick, SC — Warren Alvin Mobley, 62, of McCormick, formerly of Lowndesville SC. died Saturday, January 25, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

The family will hold a Memorial Service for Alvin at his home located at 806 West Gold St. McCormick SC on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 4:00 P.M.

Alvin worked as a mechanic, and as a construction welder building Silo’s and Water Towers all across the United States, before becoming injured and disable in the mid 1990’s. Alvin loved building, and working on things around the house, but his favorite past time hobby, was being an awesome GAMER on his Xbox and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Warren G. Mobley, a brother Ray Mobley, grandson Jacob C. Waters, and grandson Hayden Blake Elsner.

Alvin is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Mildred Mobley of his home; three daughters, Tonya Waters (Dickie) of McCormick, Tabatha Treego (Rob) of Asheville NC, and Anna Champman; two sons, Michael Mobley (Krista), and Patrick Mobley of McCormick; his Mother Linnie Ruth McCullough of Lowndesville SC; a brother, Symes McCullough of Mississippi; two sisters, Terry Sorrow of Mississippi, and Wanda Hulms of Iva SC; 11 grandchildren, Brent, Jacob, Paige, Haley Wheeler, Jesse, Justin, Chance, Samuel Haley Gosnell, Nick and Josh; 3 great grandchildren, Lerenzo, Jose, and an unborn infant; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Mr. Thomas Workman Young

MCCORMICK, SC — Thomas Workman Young, 82, of 414 Cherry Street, died Thursday, November 7, 2019, at McCormick Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Troy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger McCoy officiating.  Burial will follow in Troy Cemetery.

Thomas Young was born in McCormick to the late Grady A. Young, Sr. and Mattie Ethel Quarles of Troy.  He was a member of Troy Baptist Church and a former Deacon.  He served in the National Guard.  He work for Milliken Textiles in McCormick for 30 years and then retired from Bell Foods Systems in Lincolnton, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Young; two sons, Jeffrey Young (Pauline), and Thomas D. Young (Teresa); a daughter, Nancy Hanosek (Ben); two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Strom Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Mrs. Rebecca Morrah Brock

MCCORMICK, SC — Rebecca Morrah Brock, 93, of McCormick S.C., widow of Elvin C. Brock Sr, died September 10, 2019.

Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Owings and Rev. Martin Wiles officiating.

Rebecca was born in October 16, 1925, in Willington, SC.  She was the daughter of the late John W and Sue Lou Clinkscales Morrah.  She was a member of the Buffalo Baptist Church and the 2nd oldest member there.  She was preceded by three brothers John Morrah Jr, David Morrah Sr, and Thomas Morrah; a sister Mary Jane Sutherland; two children, Elvin Brock Jr and Cindy Edens; and a grandson Calvin Blackburn. She was greatly loved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Susan Blackburn and husband Leonard of Lincolnton, GA; a adopted daughter, Linda Brinkley of McCormick, SC; four granddaughters, Samantha and husband Michael Amaker, of Augusta Ga, Emily and Husband Caus Morman of Suwanee, GA, Charlotte and fiancée Travis Wyatt of Lincolnton, GA, Lucinda Imhof and husband John of Summerville, SC; a grandson Elvin and wife Jennifer of Abbeville SC; six great grandchildren, Bonnie Arledge, Madison Quarles, Brandon Daves, Becca Imhof, Brock Quarles, and Caus Morman Jr.; three nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be held after the service at the grave.

Mr. Carl H. Strom

SUWANEE, GA — Carl H. Strom passed away August 27, 2019, at Emory Johns Creek Hospital.

A private service for the family will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 4th, at McCormick City Cemetery.

He was born on July 5, 1928, in McCormick SC, the son of Charles Rudolph and Annie (Walker) Strom. After graduating from McCormick High School, Carl attended the University of Georgia in Athens and completed medical school at the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston.  He practiced medicine in McCormick from 1960 to 1965. After leaving McCormick he practiced family medicine in Atlanta until his retirement in 1993. He was married to Betty (Wileman) Strom for 67 years. In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by his brother, Charles Rudolph, Jr.

Carl is survived by his wife, Betty, as well as his son, Carl Henry, Jr.; his daughters Anne (Glenn) Infinger and Kathryn (Frank) Guzowski; and grandchildren Talmadge Infinger, Tyler Infinger, Nicholas Guzowski and Walker Guzowski.

Ms. Mary Nichole Skinner

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC — Mary Nichole “Nikki” Skinner, 36, of Pack Wood Drive, died August 12, 2019, in Pensacola, Florida.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Dorn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Nikki was a native of Edgefield County, where she attended Strom Thurmond High School.  She was a loving wife and loving mother of two children. Nikki enjoyed riding her Harley and fishing. Love you always Sunshine!

Survivors include her husband, Brian Skinner; two sons, Charles Joseph Hammond, and Caleb Dean Hammond; parents, Mary Jo and Robert Dearman; a sister, Mia Kennedy Quale (Frankie); a grandfather, Giroud Dorn; a grandmother, Jo-Ann Pack (J.C.).

Visitation will be prior to the church service at 3 p.m. at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Edna L. Ruiz

FORT MILL, S.C. — Edna L Ruiz, 82, of Fort Mill, SC passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Overbrook Cemetery with the Rev. Yvonne Taylor officiating.

Edna was born in Fort Mill to the late Jesse Lipe and Rosie Reeves. She was a caregiver in and out of the home. She enjoyed spending time with family and her beloved dogs; and had many hobbies including cards, art and video games.

Edna was predeceased by her three late husbands; Furman Blackwell, Louis Poole, and Michael Ruiz.Survivors includes her sister, Katie Osborne of Fort Mill; two sons, Ray Blackwell (Rose DeBus) of Fort Mill, and Ricky Blackwell (Rhonda) of Chester; two daughters, Patricia Wilson (Lou Knopp) of Fort Mill, and Shirleen Passmore (Richard) of McCormick; 13 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Strom Funeral Home in McCormick from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Roberta Mae Roland Lipe

MCCORMICK, SC — Roberta Mae Roland Lipe, 91, of McCormick, died Monday, March 11, 2019, at McCormick Rehab and Healthcare.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14th at Overbrook Cemetery with the Elder Tyrome Fuller officiating.

Roberta was born in Hartwell, GA to the late George McKee and Claudia Martin. She owned and ran Roland Truck Stop, Café, and Antique Barn for 50 years. She was a member of Kingdom Hall and was baptized there.

Survivors include her sister, Bobbie Bowers of Prosperity, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Strom Funeral Home from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday, March 13th.

Mr. Michael Devin Whitaker

MCCORMICK, SC — Michael Devin Whitaker, 62, of Whitetown Rd, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m Monday, February 4, at the family home with Pastor Jim Kinsley officiating.

Michael was born in Wabash Indiana to Martha Whitaker and the late Beach Whitaker.  He served his country in the U.S. Army for 11 years and then in the civil service for 26 years at Fort Gordon.  He enjoyed working on computers. He is predeceased by his brother, Scott Whitaker.

Survivors include his wife, Ande Whitaker of the home; a mother, Martha Whitaker, Wabash IN; two daughters, Trish (RJ) Boggs, and Tammy Mason; two brothers Terry (Maggie) Whitaker, Dayton OH, and David (Bunny) Whitaker, Wabash IN; two sisters Ginny (Max) Gaston, Wabash IN, Kara (Rick) Shively Wabash IN; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

The family is at the home.

Mrs. Elsie Percival

EDGEFIELD/CLARKS HILL — Mrs. Elsie Percival Dorn, 96, of Garrett Road, died on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at University Hospital, Augusta.

Graveside Services will be held on 11 A.M. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Red Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Dorn and Rev. Steve Cartin officiating.

Elsie was born to the late Milton and Willie Newby Percival.  She retired from Federal Pacific Electric and was a wonderful homemaker.  She was a member of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Dorn and son, Archie Dorn.

Survivors include her two sons, Giroud Dorn, and Larry Dorn (Ann); six grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Strom Funeral Home from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. Wednesday, January 2nd.
